Ms Leanne

NUTRITION & HISTORY OF DANCE

Leanne has been an educator for a number of years teaching in both the school and university environment.  Currently, Leanne is teaching both at the University of Wollongong and at local Catholic primary schools.  She is very excited to have the opportunity to utilise and expand her teaching skills through teaching the Nutrition component of the Diploma course at A&L.  

Leanne began her own tertiary education by completing a BA (Hons.) Dip Ed with majors in Education and Psychology to prepare her for primary school teaching.  She won aN NSW Educational Research Award for her Honours thesis.   Leanne’s interest in learning was extended to the health field when she completed a Diploma of Nutrition (including Sports Nutrition), a Certificate IV in Remedial Massage, and an Advanced Diploma of Naturopathy through Nature Care College Sydney.  Leanne also completed a Bachelor of Health Science (Complementary Medicine) through Charles Sturt University.  

In addition, she has worked in various marketing positions in the telecommunications industry having completed a Masters of Commerce (Marketing) at the UNSW.  She is currently completing a PhD in Marketing at the University of Wollongong.   

Leanne has continued to maintain and extend her professional competency by undertaking further studies in education such as University Learning and Teaching; and accreditation of Professional Competency in primary school teaching through the NSW Institute of Teachers.

Leanne’s connection with dance goes back to her school days when she trained part-time while attending school in Queensland, Victoria and then New South Wales.  She reached Intermediate level in both Classical RAD and Cecchetti, having been awarded a number of scholarships along the way.  She also enjoyed Modern, Jazz Ballet and Choreography.  Her fondest memories of dance are from her time at the National Theatre in Melbourne under the tutelage of Miss Kathleen Gorham.  

Leanne brings a breadth and depth of academic teaching experience; and a thorough knowledge of Nutrition complemented by a love of dance.

 

Leisa Tozer - Pilates Instructor


Leisa first became interested in Pilates nine years ago after sustaining
an injury to her lumbar spine and herniating two discs. She began a
Pilates program and through this practice regained full mobility to her
lower back. Despite spending nearly 20 years running her own business
her passion for Pilates continued, and, after beginning her career in the
fitness industry teaching aerobics for 3 years she went on to gain her
Pilates instructors certification, Certificate IV in Matwork through one of
the worlds most recognised Pilates education programs, Polestar
Pilates. Polestar Pilates provides the most comprehensive Pilates
rehabilitation and fitness curriculum and certification in the world today.
Leisa’s focus as a Pilates Instructor is the overall improvement of core
strength, posture, balance, health, wellbeing and movement through the
application of the Pilates method.
